Despite recent appearances, Spring is nearly upon us, as Les’s March Column for the Mendip Times assures us!
This month, Les looks back at his youth on Hales Farm, Tickenham where March marked the start of the year’s planting. One Easter Weekend, Les was entrusted with rolling the Spring Barley. However, not all the tools at his disposal were quite up to scratch!
Nowadays, March finds Les itching to get going in the garden, with an expectant robin waiting to see what morsels his spade unearths.
