Mendip Times – January 2015

It’s January and Les talks about the importance of a good breakfast on these cold winter mornings: “a steaming mug of tea makes the perfect companion for two slices of toast (with plenty of butter) two free range eggs and two rashers of smoked bacon”.

This time of year is when Les’s orchard work gets underway in earnest, starting with pruning at Trenderway Farm near the tiny fishing village of Polperro in Cornwall. Les discusses pruning generally and offers some very useful advice for anyone planning to give their own fruit trees a pruning soon.
